Merseyside Police invited the NBPA to conduct a Stop & Search visit to check on levels of disproportionality in their black, Asian and ethnic communities. Several Cabinet members attended along with StopWatchUK, Liberty and an IAG (Independent Advisory Group member) from Gwent Police/BTP.
We found no obvious race disparities and would encourage others forces to look at their training as best practice (see attached NBPA Stop&Search report – Merseyside 2019).
