National Black Police Association

Statement issued by NBPA following Euro 2020 Final

The National Black Police Association and all our affiliated local Associations are disgusted to see the torrent of racist abuse levelled at the England Football Team and in particular their Black players, following the game last night against Italy.

The entire England Team has throughout the tournament personified allyship to the diverse communities we and our members represent. They united the country at a time when we could not have needed it more. They showed us what strong leadership and lived experience can achieve in the best possible way. We will always be grateful and remember what they did.

We condemn racism in all its forms and plead with anyone suffering racist abuse to report it to the police. For too long, social media has been a safe haven for those that hope to divide the country and share their abhorrent views online with little chance of being identified.

Social media companies must do more to support victims and help police locate and prosecute offenders who use the safety of untraceable accounts on their platforms.

After everything the Team have given us, now is our turn to show support.

We stand with our players and our communities.

We stand by you Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka.

We win together. We lose together.
